The DBT is normally awarded on the basis of the equivalent of one year of full-time study. The expectation is that due to the delivery mode that most students will complete the award part-time.

Full-time candidacy is normally for one year. This is consistent with the AQF statement that “The volume of learning of a Diploma (level 5) is typically 1 – 2 years”.

Part-time candidacy is normally for a maximum of six years. This extended period is allowed in view of the mode of delivery of the units (online only) and the expected part-time status of the normal candidature.
