Browser - microsoft.com/en-us/edge
Because there is a good chance that you may already use other Microsoft products (Hotmail, live etc.), we recommend using a separate browser for your work in the DBT. This helps keep login sessions separated. A helpful one that seems to play well with the platforms we use in the DBT is Microsoft Edge. However, you can still use any browser you wish.
The MOD – mod.moore.edu.au
The Mod is the place where students access course contents. It is a Moodle platform.
Tutor Resources - mod.moore.edu.au/course/view.php?id=21
Tutor Resources is a ‘course’ on the MOD that is only accessible to tutors in the DBT. This page is useful for important tutor documents and orientation materials. It is very much a work in progress, so please let the MOD admin (Stuart Jonker) know if you find helpful resources to add. This is the new space for such documentation, replacing what we previously had In Microsoft Teams.
Course Resources - mod.moore.edu.au/course/view.php?id=22
The Course Resources page is generally aimed at the students. However, it is well worth checking out so that you can help students or make recommendations. This is also where you will be able to access the Student Handbook and the Course Glossary.
Microsoft Teams – teams.microsoft.com
Teams is a very powerful platform by Microsoft that we use in the DBT to communicate. Each unit has its own Team, which you as Tutor will manage. Your responsibility is to make weekly announcements, clarify anything for the unit, and chat to your students. It is the place where we communicate. There is a smartphone app you can also download if you wish, though your daily check in should suffice for students. If you were a DBT tutor previously, note that our use of Microsoft Teams from 2021 will be for chat and meetings only. Other tutor information has been moved to Mod.
Tutor email – webmail.moore.edu.au
You will be assigned a Moore College email address. This email address is the only way to communicate with the Registrar’s Department. It is here where your marker reports will be sent and returned. Registrars may be in contact if there are issues concerning academic misconduct, or student requests for extensions. Please also check your email daily as students may sometimes email you instead of messaging on Teams. Kindly remind them to use Teams instead. It may be worth installing the Microsoft Outlook app on your device for your DBT work.
