09.1 College Meals

All students are expected to attend each weekday lunch in the Dining Room during teaching weeks. Part-time students should attend lunch where reasonably practicable on the day/s they are present at the Newtown Campus for classes.

See table below for meal times, and other helpful information. Any guest meal requests/payments should be made at the concierge desk prior to each purchased meal.

Single residents may bring guests for the discounted rate of $13. This rate is not available to students who are not single residents.

Please note the following:

  • If you have special dietary requirements, please make arrangements with the Head Chef via email kitchen@moore.edu.au . If you have been allocated/provided a special dietary meal, please collect this from the kitchen and not the general bain-maries.

  • Meals are not transferable to other people.

  • Takeaway meals are not available for lunch. If you have a lecture clash with lunch, please request with the Head Chef in advance by emailing kitchen@moore.edu.au .

  • Friday lunches are served on disposable plates with disposable cutlery to be consumed outside where weather permits. No other meals are to be taken away from the kitchen without permission from the Head Chef.  

  • During Study Weeks, the Kitchen caters for residential students and students who are studying onsite (either in the Library or in a Study Room) and have signed up at least 24 hours in advance via the relevant sign in sheet in the Dining Room.

  • Anyone who is not studying onsite is considered a guest and needs to book in and pay for lunch via the Concierge Desk with at least 48 hours notice.

  • Persons who do not fall into the categories listed in the ‘Provided for’ column in the table above are considered to be guests. Guests include students’ spouses, part-time students on days they do not have class, Junior Jivers parents and Creche Parents, etc.

  • Guests may attend meals if they book in advance:

  • Please note, the prices listed in the table are for members of the Moore College Community bringing guests to student meals or attending student meals as guests. They are not indicative of event-catering charges.

  • Crockery or cutlery may not be taken away from the Dining Room without permission from the Head Chef.

  • Breakfast is provided only for single residents living in on-campus accommodation.

  • Lunch and Dinner are not provided on Saturday or Sunday or individual public holiday days.

 

Due to WH&S regulations children, babies or toddlers in prams, strollers or capsules should not be brought into the Dining Room.  Babies are welcome if they are in a pouch but must not be taken up to the bains-marie. Parents who are carrying the baby in the pouch should ask another student to get their meal for them.
