04.4 Course Progression

  1. The principles of course progression are set out in the College’s Coursework Progress Policy. Students normally progress to successive years of the College course if they pass all of their units and complete any prescribed vacation assignments.

2. First year students who fail two units may progress to second year. However,

2.1. BS111 Old Testament 1 is a pre-requisite of BS215 Old Testament 2

2.2. BS107 Hebrew 1B is a pre-requisite of BS206 Hebrew 2A

2.3. BS121 New Testament 1 and BS103 Greek 1B are prerequisites of BS221 New Testament 2

2.4. BS201 Greek 2 is a co-requisite for BS221 New Testament 2

2.5. CT100 Doctrine 1 is a pre-requisite of CT200 Doctrine 2

3. Students who have studied a Church History unit other than CT222 Church History A, will be required to successfully complete a bridging assessment. Entry into third year is open to those who pass all first year and at least four second year units. However:

3.1. BS207 Hebrew 2B is a pre-requisite of BS300 Hebrew 3

3.2. A pass in BS300 Hebrew 3 is a co-requisite for BS312 Old Testament 3 (Hebrew option)

3.3. BS215 Old Testament 2 is a pre-requisite of BS311/312 Old Testament 3

3.4. BS201 Greek 2 and BS221 New Testament 2 are pre-requisites of BS321 New Testament 3

3.5. CT200 Doctrine 2 is a pre-requisite of CT300 Doctrine 3 and CT330 Christian Ethics 3

3.6. CT222 Church History A is a pre-requisite for CT322 Church History B

4. For progression requirements from the BTh into the ThM, please see section 4.5.1.

4.1. BS311/312 Old Testament 3 and BS300 Hebrew 3 are pre-requisites for BS412 Old Testament 4 (Hebrew) and BS400 Daniel (Hebrew and Aramaic).

4.2. BS321 New Testament 3 is a pre-requisite for BS421 New Testament 4

4.3. CT300 Doctrine 3 is a pre-requisites for CT400 Issues in Theology and CT412 These Three are One

4.4. CT311 Philosophy 3 is a pre-requisite for CT451 Contemporary Apologetics

4.5. CT322 Church History B is a pre-requisite for CT422 Church History C

4.6. Students who took CM105 Introduction to Pastoral Ministry cannot take CM405 Advanced Pastoral Ministry

4.7. CM302 M&M3 is a pre-requisite for CM412 Anglican Identity & Liturgy

5. Students who fail two or more units may need to repeat the year concerned. This requires the special permission of the Academic Board.

6. Government regulations mean that the College may not allow overseas students (holders of student visas) to repeat a unit more than once.

7. The Academic Board reserves the right to make exceptions to the above rules.
